Town Center
The Hillshire Ridge Town Center was the pillar of the community. Stores were not only for shopping, but also to meet one and another, to chat or gossip about the news. The main street stretches from one side to the other side of town. With a main square where a lot of the small shops are located.

Around Town
Many streets filled with homes are found around the Hillshire Ridge town center. Where once cars drove, children played on the streets, neighbours chatting, it's now empty. Only very few emerged from their homes alive. The houses are now only good for gathering supplies, but they also harbor the dead.

Outskirts
On the outskirts and just outside the town lie some larger businesses, farms, and a few homes. Hillshire Ridge is also home to a ruined castle that stands a top on a hill, and a golf course, that during the summer times attracted tourists to this small town.

Loch Ashrick
Loch Ashrick is a freshwater loch that stretches from East to West for about 6.5 miles (10.5km) and is about 0.6 miles (1km) wide. During the summer it was a place loved by tourists. Fishing, canoeing, sailing and other sports were done at the loch. The loch is connected by several rivers, and Hillshire Ridge lies towards the east of the Loch, only half a mile from the loch.

Shire National Nature Reserve
The Shire Forest, also known as the Shire National Nature Reserve, stretches all the way around Loch Ashrick, and towards the north of Hillshire Ridge. The forest itself runs over various hills and valleys towards the north upon finally hitting the highest moutain of Scotland, the Ben Nevis. Some 50% of the nature reserve consist out of moor- and grasslands and farm lands. The Flora and Fauna is diverse, and many hike, walk and hill/mountain bike trails exist. However, don't be fooled by the pretty scenery and the idea to find some food here. The landscape can be very treacherous, and inexperienced people can easily get lost or even find themselves stuck in a bog.

Lochaber & Beyond
The disctrict of Lochaber is one of the 16 ward management areas of the Highland Council of Scotland. It's landscape is diverse, from it's seaside, to the many lochs, glens, mountains and moorland. Lochaber was very popular amongst tourists because of the huge scenic area and it offered many sports and outdoor activities. Scattered across the landscape were small villages and towns, as well as some larger towns along the coast and at some lochs.
